For 9 years I've been building robust JavaScript applications — Vue.js, React, React Native, Express.js, Nuxt.js, NestJS, Framework7 — and shipping them with Docker, Kubernetes and Google Cloud.
At Pathao I work across the product surface: web and in-app webviews, admin and dashboard panels, mobile apps, deployments and the tooling that keeps operations moving. I turn requirements from operations and product teams into working software.

How Requests Find Their Way Home - What and where — The HTTP method says *what* you want to do, the route says *where*. The server combines the two (GET /api/books vs POST /api/books) into a unique key that maps to one handler, so the same path never clashes. - Static routes — Fixed strings like /api/books that always return the same kind of data. - Dynamic routes and path parameters — /api/users/:id matches /api/users/123 and hands 123 to the handler (always as a string). Reads like a sentence: get the user with id 123. - Query parameters — ?page=2&limit=20&sort=desc carries key-value metadata on GET requests, which have no body: pagination, filters, sorting, search terms. Putting a search term in the path works but breaks the meaning of the URL. - Nested routes — /api/users/123/posts/456 = post 456 of user 123. Every level (/users, /users/123, /users/123/posts) is its own route with its own handler. - Versioning and deprecation — /api/v1/products and /api/v2/products can return different shapes. Ship breaking changes in v2, give clients a window to migrate, then retire v1. - Catch-all route — A final /* handler answers unknown paths with a friendly "not found" instead of an empty response. 7. Serialization and Deserialization for backend engineers - The problem — A JavaScript client and a Rust server have completely different types. They need a common format both agree on, independent of language. - Serialization turns your language's data into that common format before sending or storing it; deserialization turns it back into native types (a JS object, a Rust struct) on the other side. - Formats — Text-based: JSON, YAML, XML. Binary: Protocol Buffers and others. JSON dominates HTTP APIs and also shows up in config files and logs. - JSON rules — Wrapped in curly braces; keys are always double-quoted strings; values can be a string, number, boolean, array or nested object. - Mental model — Below the application layer the data becomes packets and bits (OSI layers), but as a backend engineer you only see JSON leaving the client and JSON arriving at the server.
- 8 October 2026Vector Database Foundation: ways to queryFinished the Vector Database Foundation module (KodeKloud). It covered the different ways to query a vector database: - Semantic search — Match by meaning, not words: "wiki won't load on VPN" finds "Cannot reach intranet from home wifi". - KNN — Exact top-k by comparing against every vector. Fine for small data, slows down as data grows. - ANN — Approximate top-k through an index like HNSW. Much faster, can miss a few true neighbours. - Range / threshold — Return everything closer than a cut-off, so "nothing similar" is a valid answer. Good for duplicate detection. - Hybrid — Keyword + vector search merged (e.g. Reciprocal Rank Fusion), for error codes, IDs and exact names. - Multi-vector — Several vectors per record: a ticket's problem and its fix, or each chunk of a long document. - Two-stage with reranking — ANN pulls ~50 candidates, a cross-encoder re-scores them and keeps the best few. Key for RAG.
- 7 October 2026MySQL course, chapters 1–10: design to joinsRevised the first ten chapters of my MySQL database course and tested myself on each one. Course progress: 10 of 26 chapters (design, SQL basics, integrity, joins). Next up: built-in functions, aggregation and indexes. 1–2. Intro and types of databases - Relational for structured data with relationships. Key-value stores like Redis are fast but keep data mostly in memory, so durability is the weak spot. Search engines like Elasticsearch are a second copy of your data that has to be kept in sync. - Production topics later in the course: locking, replication, backup and restore, migrations, monitoring. 3–4. Design process and ER model - Order: requirements → conceptual model (entities and relationships) → logical model (tables and keys). - Weak entity: can't exist without its owner, like a comment on a blog post (double rectangle). - Derived attribute: computed, not stored. Keep date_of_birth, work out age (dashed oval). - Multi-valued attribute: several phone numbers go in their own table, never comma-separated or phone1/phone2. - Participation: total when every row must take part (every department has a manager), partial otherwise. 5. Relational schema - 1:N relationship attributes go on the *many* side: a course's semester and year live on course, not program. - M:N attributes go in the join table: grade lives in enrollments(student_id, course_id, grade). 6. Normalization - 1NF: one value per column. - 2NF: no partial dependency. With key (student_id, course_code), student_name depends on half the key, so it moves out. - 3NF: no transitive chain like course → instructor → phone. Instructors get their own table. 7. Data retrieval - AND is evaluated before OR. price > 400 AND type = 'digital' OR stock > 0 returns every in-stock item. Brackets fix it. - Pagination: offset = (page − 1) × page size, so page 3 of 10 is LIMIT 10 OFFSET 20. 8. Data manipulation - A NOT NULL column without a DEFAULT must be given on INSERT; AUTO_INCREMENT, nullable and defaulted columns can be skipped. - With strict mode off, a too-long value is cut to fit with only a warning (SHOW WARNINGS). With strict mode on, it's an error. 9. Data integrity - Entity: every row has a unique primary key. - Referential: a foreign key points to a real row or is NULL. - Domain: universal rules, like no negative payment. - User-defined: your own business rules, like invoice numbers starting with INV00. - CHECK only allows deterministic expressions: no NOW(), subqueries or variables. 10. Joins - INNER JOIN drops rows with no match; LEFT JOIN keeps them with NULLs (employees without an address). - Self join on categories.parent_id needs LEFT JOIN, or top-level categories disappear.
